[RECIPE] Chocolate-covered pretzel goldfish

You know those chocolate-covered pretzels you can find at the bulk section of a grocery store? And we all know that everyone secretly sneaks a treat while scooping up some of those yummy mini cookies or those animal crackers.

Now there's pretzel Goldfish!
Pretzel Baked Goldfish
My mom bought a big chocolate bar, for baking purpose. There was about 12oz of chocolate left so I thought I might as well use it up. I prefer dark chocolate over regular milk chocolate, just because I think milk chocolate is too sweet.

Chocolate-covered Pretzel Goldfish:
♥ 2.5 cups pretzel (Goldfish) *
♥ 12 oz (dark) chocolate*

measurements vary: It really depends how chocolate-y you would like the pretzels to be. I used up all the chocolate (around 225g bar) and 2 bags of pretzel Goldfish (227g each bag).

1) Spread Goldfish onto a cookie pan/baking sheet. Line with parchment/wax paper. I oiled the parchment paper lightly just so I can easily remove the Goldfish.

2) Melt chocolate.

Double Boiler Method: I boiled some water in a pot then set my bowl of chocolate pieces on top. Stir until melted.

Microwave: You can microwave the chocolate in 10-15 sec intervals. Stir between each intervals to prevent burning the chocolate.

3) There are multiple ways to coat the pretzels, this all depends how chocolate-y you want the pretzels to be.

  • drizzle the chocolate on top of the pretzels,
  • dip each pretzel into the chocolate and place them onto the cookie sheet, or
  • dump all the pretzels into the chocolate, mix and dump it back onto the cookie sheet and flatten them down

Needless to say, I did the last method. The chocolate wasn't too hot so it didn't make the pretzels chewy. I actually did the drizzle method, but didn't like how the pretzels are not fully coated.

4) Leave the chocolate to cool at room temperature before putting it into the fridge. I left mine in the freezer for around 20 min.

5) Because I tossed the pretzels into the chocolate, it became one big slab of pretzel goldfish drowning in chocolate. I had to break them up, and in the process I broke some of the fishes :(

If I wasn't impatient, I would do the dunk-and-place-onto-cookie-sheet method. Nonetheless, they still taste awesome and make a great snack. Enjoy!~
