Gami Sushi is currently my new favorite place for go-to sushi. It's in my neighborhood; the quality of the food is good; and it's cheap! Also add on that grand opening promotion of 20% off ;) (until Sept 30, 2014)
Gami Sushi: 126-10111 No 3 rd. Richmond, BC |
Their open hours are 11am - 10pm, open 7 days a week. They are located in Broadmoor Shopping Centre, between RBC Royal Bank and Coast Capital. They take debit, credit, and cash.
I had a late lunch/ afternoon tea with Maiko after the Game of Throne Exhibition, so Mr.A and I had a late dinner.
We ordered California roll ($3.25) , chopped scallop cone ($4.25) , and Big Bang Roll (8.95).
One pet peeve of mine when eating at a sushi restaurant is that the quality of their rice. The type of rice, and whether if it's properly cooked or not- and Gami Sushi passed the test!
Both the California roll and Chopped Scallop cone taste great. I think there's too much rice in the cone, but there are usually a lot of rice in cones hence I should not have ordered a cone.

Oh where to begin on this. The special rolls at Gami Sushi are pricey (compared to the regular rolls (ie: California Roll) but they are worth it.
The Big Bang Roll consists of: cream cheese, crab meat, cucumber, spicy salmon. The roll is then deep fried and topped with 5 different sauces, some bonito flakes and masago (capelin roe).
The downside to the Big Bang roll is that if you don't like hard, crunchy rice (from being deep fried) then you won't like the roll as much. I really like the crunchy texture from the outside, compared to having a crunchy texture on the inside (ie: a tempura).

Food: (5/5) I've only tried the rolls so far; the quality of the salmon sashimi (second visit with my family) is excellent.
Ambiance: (4.5/5) Love the decor! The restaurant is very small, and a family with an infant had to leave their stroller at the entrance. I suggest ordering take-out if there are no seats available. Lunch time tends to have long line-ups.
Service: (5/5) Friendly waitresses :) Our order took a very long time when I went with Mr.A, but they gave us free miso soup and an extra chopped scallop cone to compensate.
Value: (4/5) Some items, such as the special rolls or their salmon sashimi, ($9.45 for 7 pcs) are on the pricier side. The special rolls are slightly bigger than the regular rolls and gives a whole new twist of flavors compared to the regular rolls.
Overall: I will definitely make Gami Sushi my go-to place for sushi! Excellent service and awesome food.
Hi Yvonne,
ReplyDeleteI have some good news. I've added a new feature so you can publish your blog posts on Urbanspoon yourself without having to wait for us to do it! Here's how it works:
- Make sure you're signed into Urbanspoon.
- Go to your Urbanspoon blog page (not your user profile): https://www.urbanspoon.com/br/14/10286/Vancouver/Bonbons-World-of-bonbons.html
- Click "Edit blog settings".
- In the Pending Posts section, click "Edit and publish my pending posts".
- Then, enter the "snippet" text, verify the date and URL, and press Publish.
Please make sure that:
- The URL should be the permalink to the blog post (not the blog home page, a category page, a post preview, or a service like feedproxy).
- The snippet should be 3-4 sentences (quoted from your blog post) that gives an idea of what's in the post.
- The snippet should NOT include bylines, dates, address info, captions, tags, HTML code, etc.
If reviewing a restaurant that is part of a chain, only add a spoonback for one of the locations. The only exception to this is if you are specifically and in detail reviewing more than one of the locations.
Note: there may be a delay of 1-2 hours after you post on your blog until our system detects the post.
We'll give you one week to do it yourself, then it'll go into our queue to publish.
Thank you for all of your contributions, and let me know if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Greg
